With over 18 years of private equity investment and investment advisory experience, with a dozen of those years spent in private equity in Africa. Babacar leads on investments, sourcing, structuring, executing, and exiting transactions at DPI.

Babacar sits on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Solevo Group; COFINA Group; Atlantique Business International, owner of Banque Atlantique Group; KMR Holding Pédagogique, which owns UPM (Université Privée de Marrakech); and Food Concepts. Additionally, he has been involved in numerous private equity and M&A transactions across Africa, cumulatively valued at over US$3 billion.

Prior to joining DPI, Babacar served as a Summer Associate at Standard Bank in London, where he assessed and structured mezzanine and debt investments in the mining, infrastructure, and telecommunications sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa. He began his investment career at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C., spending four years as an investment analyst.

A Senegalese citizen, Babacar holds a BSc in Business Administration and Finance from University of California Riverside and an MBA from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
