Obi joined DPI in July 2008, having previously been a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst at Monolith Investment Management, where he managed a US$7 million emerging markets value-oriented hedge fund which focussed on long/short and special situations investments in basic materials, industrials, telecommunications, energy and financial sectors across Africa. Prior to this, Obi was an Investment Analyst at Laurus Investment Management, where he analysed, structured, negotiated and monitored investments for a US$2.0 billion global special situations hedge fund in the basic materials, industrials, telecommunications, real estate, financials, and healthcare sectors. He also worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Obi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bernard M. Baruch College (1998) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (2002). He is a citizen of Nigeria and the US.
